Technical Laboratory Analytics
Introduction
Many Industries in UAE have laboratories that require skilled and qualified technicians to work in them. The labs are an essential part of industries when it comes to quality control tests, food analysis, microbiology analysis, environmental analysis, and material testing. The TLA program has been designed to equip young Emirati females with the vocational knowledge and practical skills essential to the sustained growth and development of the United Arab Emirates in the field of Technical laboratory analytics. The graduates of this program will possess skills to use laboratory instruments and software, process and interpret data; analyse and report results; apply quality system and continuous improvement process; perform chemical, biological and mechanical tests on a variety of samples; supervise and organise laboratory work schedules, sampling plans, and operations; develop and promote team cohesion to improve performance and planned outcomes; analyse, implement, and monitor improvement/effectiveness of work practices; plan and conduct research projects.
ADVETI Institutes offer Technical Laboratory Analytics at two levels: Level 5 Diploma and Level 6 Advanced Diploma both of which are qualifications accredited by the National Qualification Centre (NQC).
Â
NQC Diploma in TLA
The Technical Laboratory Analytics award at level 5 Diploma is comprised of 90 credits, completed by full-time students over two years. A full-time mode of study requires students to attend college five days per week to study all the units assigned to them in each semester in order to complete the programme on time. The TLA Diploma 5 programme widens the understanding of technical laboratories and explores its roles and application in government and industry.
Â
NQC Advanced Diploma in TLA
The Technical Laboratory Analytics award at level 6 Advanced Diploma is comprised of 132 credits, completed by full-time students over three years. Learners who have completed Diploma in Technical Laboratory Analytics have to complete 42 additional credits over one year to successfully complete the Advanced Diploma Award.

Program Topics-Diploma Level
The TLA Level 5 Diploma program enables students to learn various techniques and skills in chemical, biological, and environmental testing, quality system application, laboratory instrument and software use, data processing and operations. Program topics include but are not limited to: environmental analysis; analytical chemistry; Lab Safety, Hazard Identification, and Risk Assessment; Lab Separation Techniques; Advanced Chemical Tests; Microbiological Tests; Material Testing; Sample Management and Processing; Perform Food Analysis; and Operate Laboratory Equipment and Software
Â
Program Topics-Advanced Diploma Level
The TLA Level 6 Advanced Diploma program enables students to gain the knowledge, skills and competencies required to coordinate and operate a laboratory. This includes applying a range of day-to-day work plans, procedures, technical skills, managing safe working environments and waste mitigation strategies along with handling all types of complex and specialised tests. The Advanced Diploma will also provide the required skills and knowledge to supervise laboratory operations within a work area or project team. The key areas of skills, competencies and knowledge will be covered in laboratory operations, forensics, environmental, sustainability, testing methods, chemical testing, fieldwork and other specialised areas.Â

TLA
Skills gained at the end of the program
Â
The TLA programme provides opportunities for students to develop knowledge and demonstrate skills, qualities and other attributes in the following areas:
Functional Skills
- Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids, including blood and urine
to determine presence of normal and abnormal components. - Operate, calibrate and maintain equipment used in quantitative
and qualitative analysis, such as spectrophotometers, calorimeters,
flame photometers, and computer- controlled analyzers. - Enter data from analysis of laboratory tests and clinical results
into records-keeping systems and report results to medical
practitioners and other health professionals. - Analyze samples of biological material for chemical content or
reaction, set up, cleaning, and maintain laboratory equipment. - Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results.
- Establish and monitor programs to ensure the accuracy of
laboratory results and develop, standardize, evaluate, and modify
procedures, techniques and tests used in the analysis of specimens. - Obtaining specimens, cultivating, isolating and identifying
microorganisms for analysis. - Examining cells stained with dye to locate abnormalities.
